Counselling

What is counselling?

Counselling is a safe space where you can express freely without any fear of judgement. It is where you build good rapport and trust because you don’t have the other stigmas typically attached to other types of conversations. Counselling is all about honest reflections, transparency, expanding perspectives and identifying blind spots that can enable you to make the changes you need in your life, to help you overcome barriers that stand in the way of your happiness and freedom of simply being the best version of yourself.

Why should someone choose counselling?

A counsellor will offer you skills that will help you see through the fog and regain clarity to overcome challenges and arrive at your own peaceful resolution, to your own hopeful state where you can resume and engage with your life again.

You can broaden your perspectives to see yourself more in the reflection of your life and gain a better understanding of some defense mechanisms that may have developed into maladaptive coping strategies.

When these unhealthy coping behaviours go unchallenged or unaddressed, they can keep the same problems going for a long time. Counselling can allow you to switch from survival mode to living more authentically and abundantly. It can give you a chance to be your own agent of change in your life, holding you more accountable and responsible for your own actions.

As humans we tend to habituate to our circumstances and we normalise what happens to us. When we normalise we can tend to no longer see the problem. This is where counselling through its safe setting can allow for more clarity to see the problem so that it can be recognised and addressed.

An introductory call to decide if I’m the right fit for you is encouraged, because it is important to have a good rapport with your counsellor. Sessions last from around 45 mins to an hour. These can be online, by phone or in person.
